Grok Bot shopping arrived properly in v0.78.1 on 27 October 2026: your Bot can now find products, show them as cards with photos, ratings and prices, start an order when you tap Buy now, and tell you when it ships. It can also hunt down subscriptions you forgot about. In the video below I walk through Grok Bot’s Vault, which is where your payment details live. Here’s how shopping works and how to keep control of every payment, from xAI’s changelog and docs.
Key takeaways
- Product cards show photos, rating, price, store and up to two badges.
- Buy now starts an order that you approve.
- Connect Shop Pay in Vault › Payments, or use Link or X Money.
- A card saved in Vault fills at checkout without asking — don’t save it if you want to approve every payment.

What Grok Bot shopping does
The v0.78.1 changelog lists the new shopping features:
- Product cards with photos, rating, price and store, plus up to two badges such as Top rated.
- 3 to 4 results in a carousel, and you can swipe through each product’s photos.
- A product page that lists in-stock options first and greys out ones that aren’t available.
- Buy now, which starts an order you approve.
So instead of ten browser tabs comparing the same item, you ask the Bot for “a quiet desk fan under my usual budget with good reviews” and pick from a few cards.
Order tracking
After you buy, the Bot follows the order. The changelog says it tells you when an order ships or arrives, and shipment cards show the carrier and the delivery stage. Order cards leave out the Ship to line for orders that don’t ship anything, like digital purchases, and spend totals now show the right currency.

How you pay: Shop Pay, Link, X Money and cards
Payments live in the Vault. The options from the docs and changelog:
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Shop Pay | Connect it in Vault › Payments, then pick it under Pay with or make it your default |
| Link | A one-time card per purchase; the approval shows merchant, items and total with Pay, Pay another way or Deny |
| X Money | A payment account you can connect in the Vault |
| Saved card | A card saved in Vault fills at checkout without asking each time |
| Secure Form | You type the card into a secure form the Bot can’t read |
If you buy through a store’s own connector, the changelog says that order uses that connector’s payment options.
How a Link one-time card works
Link is the option that keeps you closest to every purchase. According to the Vault guide, once a Link account is connected, the Bot can ask you to approve a one-time card for a single purchase. The request shows the merchant, the items and the total. You then choose:
- Pay (the button shows the amount) to approve, then finish authorising on the Link page that opens.
- Pay another way to skip the card.
- Deny to stop the purchase.
Nothing is charged if you decline or the request expires. If the card says your Link account isn’t connected, reconnect Link and ask the Bot again. Settings → Vault also shows your Default payment method, which Grok Bot pays with first, so set that deliberately.
Keeping control of every payment
This is the part to read twice. The Vault guide says a card saved in Vault fills at checkout without asking you each time. No setting makes it ask for approval on each use. If you want to approve every payment, don’t save the card: when the Bot asks for a card with a Secure Form, leave Securely save to Bot’s vault unchecked, and the card is used only in that chat. A form without that checkbox saves straight to the Vault, so don’t submit it. Already saved one? Open Settings → Vault, select it and choose Remove.
Two more safety nets:
- Ask first rules. The FAQ suggests adding Ask first rules for purchasing, so the Bot always stops before buying.
- Auto Review. The approvals guide says every action is checked, and text from an email or web page doesn’t count as your request. A web page can’t trick the Bot into buying something you didn’t ask for.
My setting: Link or Shop Pay for purchases, no saved card, and an Ask first rule on all buying.

Subscription templates
v0.78.1 also added three ready-made templates for subscriptions:
| Template | What it does |
|---|---|
| Try it, don’t pay for it | Starts a free trial, then cancels it or reminds you before you’re billed |
| Find unused subscriptions | Finds subscriptions you’re not using and cancels the ones you pick |
| Watch subscription prices | Checks your renewal prices |
Bots can now cancel a subscription, or look up its price and renewal date, and they confirm with you before changing anything. For a business with a pile of software tools, the Find unused subscriptions template is the one I’d run first.
Shopping and the Bot’s computer
Shopping runs on the same cloud computer the Bot uses for everything else. The computer and apps guide says at checkout it can use a Vault card, a Secure Form card or a wallet like Link or X Money. If a store asks for bank card verification or a CAPTCHA, the Bot hands you the computer for that step, then carries on.
My verdict
Shopping is the most personal-assistant feature Grok Bot has shipped so far, and the subscription templates are useful for any business owner. Set the payment rules before your first order, not after, and it’s a genuine time-saver.
