Grok Bot Gmail support comes through the Gmail connector. Connect your mailbox once and your Bots can search and read your mail, write drafts, send and apply labels, and even pick up sign-in codes. That’s different from the Bot’s own mail.grokbot.com address, which is a separate inbox. In the video below I show what the new Grok Bot can do. Here’s how to connect Gmail, what the Bot can and can’t do with it, and how to keep your inbox safe, from xAI’s official docs.
Key takeaways
- Gmail connects one mailbox at a time from Connect apps.
- The Bot can search, read, draft, send and label.
- It can attach files from its computer to Gmail drafts.
- Company Google accounts may need an admin to trust Grok first.
- Want AI agents clearing your inbox? Claim a free strategy session.
What the Gmail connector does
The computer and apps guide lists it plainly: the Gmail app can search and read mail, draft and send, and apply labels on the connected mailbox. It uses the account you authorise and can only do what that account can already do.
- Triage: “Find every unpaid invoice email from this month and label it Finance.”
- Drafting: “Draft replies to the three newest customer questions.”
- Sign-in codes: when a site emails a one-time code, the Bot can read it from connected Gmail (Vault guide).
- Files: attach a file the Bot made to a Gmail draft, or bring an email attachment onto its computer to work on (files guide).
How to connect Gmail to Grok Bot
- Open Connect apps from the sidebar (on the phone, tap your avatar, then Connect apps).
- Search for Gmail and add it.
- Choose Authorize or Authenticate and sign in to Google in your browser.
- Check Gmail shows under Installed, then type
@in chat to attach it to a task.
Or just ask a Bot: “Connect my Gmail.” It shows a Connect card for the sign-in. Grok Bot signs in to Google as Grok, not Cursor.
One mailbox at a time: to use a different Gmail account, disconnect the current one and authorise the other. Disconnect Gmail if a Bot shouldn’t use that mailbox.

Gmail vs the Bot’s own email address
People mix these up, so here’s the difference:
| Gmail connector | Bot email (mail.grokbot.com) | |
|---|---|---|
| Whose inbox | Your existing Gmail | One shared address your Bots use |
| Set up in | Connect apps → Gmail | Connect apps → Email |
| Can start a routine on new mail | Not listed as a trigger | Yes, filtered by sender or domain |
| Good for | Your real inbox and clients | Sign-ups, receipts and newsletters |
If you’ve connected Gmail and also claimed a Bot address, the Bot asks which account to send from when either could work. Full details are in my Grok Bot email guide.
Sending email safely
Sending is gated by Auto Review and approvals. Sensitive or consequential actions can stop for your approval, and your Auto-review rules decide which actions stop. Two good rules from the docs:
- Keep a rule like “Always ask before you send an email”, and the Bot saves it as a lasting rule.
- Avoid broad allow-everything rules; they’re meant to complement explicit approvals, not replace them.
A Bot treats email from other people as information, not instructions, so a stranger’s email can’t tell your Bot to act.
Run Gmail jobs on a schedule
New Gmail mail isn’t on the event trigger list (Slack, GitHub, Linear, Sentry, PagerDuty, the Bot’s own address and webhooks). For your real inbox, use a scheduled routine instead:
- “Every weekday at 8am, summarise unread Gmail from clients and draft replies.”
- “Every Friday, label receipts in Gmail and save the attachments to Google Drive.”
Routine schedules must be at least five minutes apart. Test the job once by hand, then make it a routine (see my Grok Bot routines guide).

Gmail improvements in v0.78.1
The 0.78.1 changelog (27 October 2026) lists these Gmail fixes:
- Plain-text Gmail drafts the Bot writes now open in rich text, so they read well on a phone and send without hard line breaks.
- Gmail drafts and sends can attach a file from the Bot’s computer in more cases.
- Signing in to a Google account that’s already connected reuses it, with one reconnect card instead of several.
- Copy on a reply keeps headings, lists and links when you paste into Gmail.
If Google blocks the connection
A company Google Workspace account can stop the sign-in. If you see Your admin needs to review Grok, an IT admin approves it in the Google Admin console:
- Security → Access and data control → API controls
- App access control → Manage third-party app access
- Add the app named Grok and set it to Trusted
A personal Gmail account doesn’t need an admin. Switching browsers won’t clear a Google admin block. On a team with an allowlist network policy, Gmail needs gmail.googleapis.com allowed (security guide).
My verdict
Connect Gmail, keep the “ask before you send” rule, and hand your Bot the repetitive inbox work: sorting, labelling, first-draft replies and filing attachments. You approve what goes out. That’s the smart way to run Grok Bot Gmail.

FAQ: grok bot gmail
Can Grok Bot use Gmail?
Yes. Connect Gmail in Connect apps and your Bots can search and read mail, draft and send, and apply labels on that mailbox.
How do I connect Gmail to Grok Bot?
Open Connect apps, add Gmail, choose Authorize or Authenticate and sign in to Google in your browser, then check it shows under Installed.
Can I connect two Gmail accounts to Grok Bot?
Not at once. Gmail connects one mailbox at a time; disconnect the current mailbox and authorise the other to switch.
Is Grok Bot Gmail the same as the Bot’s email address?
No. The Gmail connector uses your existing Gmail. The Bot’s own address at mail.grokbot.com is a separate inbox that all your Bots share.
Why does Google say my admin needs to review Grok?
Your company Workspace hasn’t approved Grok yet. An admin adds the app named Grok in API controls and sets it to Trusted.
Can Grok Bot attach files to Gmail?
Yes. A Bot can attach a file it made or downloaded to a Gmail draft, and since v0.78.1 it can attach files from its computer in more cases.
