Hark AI Agent: The Proactive Assistant That Runs Your Life, Tested

The Hark AI agent launched this week as “an operating system for your life” — and it’s the cleanest AI agent I’ve used. It reads your inbox, suggests what to do next, books restaurants, plans trips and builds little dashboards for anything you want to track. I signed up for free and tested it on launch day in the video below. Here’s what it does, what it costs, and whether it’s worth switching to.

Key takeaways

  • Hark Pro launched on 6 October 2026 on web, iOS and Android, from Brett Adcock’s company Hark.
  • It’s proactive — it reads your email and suggests action items you approve with yes or no.
  • Panels are custom mini-apps, Projects handle long tasks, and you can schedule tasks.
  • There’s a free plan; paid tiers are $20/month (2× usage) and $100/month (10×).

What the Hark AI agent is

Hark is a new consumer AI company founded by Brett Adcock, who also founded the robotics company Figure. Its first product, Hark Pro, is an AI assistant that connects to your email, calendar, files and accounts, gets to know you, and then looks for things it can take off your plate — booking cars, paying bills, buying groceries, or spotting that you’ve booked a flight but no hotel.

It runs on a model trained specifically for computer use, so it navigates websites itself, and you can watch what it’s doing in a small window. Hark is positioning it as a privacy-focused alternative to the big AI companies, and says AI-native hardware is coming in 2027.

How I set up the Hark AI agent

Onboarding was easier than almost any agent I’ve tried — easier than Grok, honestly:

  • Sign up for free on the web, or download the iOS or Android app.
  • Connect your email — Hark recommends this first, and it’s what makes the proactive features work.
  • Add your basic details, like where you are.
  • Answer its first question: “What’s one thing on your plate this week I could take off?”

I asked it to book an Italian restaurant for Wednesday next week. It asked how many people and what time — I typed “6pm, two people” with a typo, and it didn’t care — then it started booking one of my actual favourite restaurants. I stopped it before it finished, but it clearly knew what it was doing.

Hark AI agent features

  • Integrations — Gmail plus Slack, GitHub, LinkedIn, Notion, Amazon, PayPal and more, and you can add a wallet.
  • Proactive inbox — it reads your emails and suggests action items you approve or dismiss.
  • Panels — custom mini-apps for anything: workouts, calories, productivity, calendar events, Shopify packages, new podcast episodes.
  • Home — your spaces, panels and action buttons in one place, including paying bills.
  • Projects — dedicated threads with their own files for long-horizon work, like planning an event or tracking a topic.
  • Scheduled tasks — manage recurring jobs you set up in chat.
  • Voice input and attachments — voice is input only; it doesn’t talk back yet.
  • Prep my day — checks your calendar and inbox and builds the day’s itinerary.

To create a panel, you just describe it. I typed “track my productivity” and it asked whether I meant meeting hours versus focus time, or tasks from my to-do list — and offered to connect apps like ClickUp or Asana to feed it.

The Hark AI agent in daily use

The feature I like most is how it uses your connected apps. With some agents, like Grok Bot, you connect an app and then still have to log in again inside the agent’s computer before it can click around. Hark seems to use the apps you’ve integrated directly, which saves time.

“Prep my day” is a great example. It checked my calendar and inbox, told me what was working, that my inbox was clean, and asked whether I wanted it to pull in the sales numbers before my team sales meeting at 4pm. That’s what a good assistant does — it comes to you.

You can also ask it to plan a trip — where’s good for camping, a packing list, when to leave — and it will start booking flights. The interface is super clean throughout. It honestly feels like the Apple of AI agents — what Apple should have released.

Hark pricing

I tested everything on the free plan. If you lean on it daily, the paid tiers simply raise your usage limits.

Hark vs other AI agents: is it worth switching?

A viewer asked a fair question: with Hermes, Muse, Dots, Grok Bot and now Hark, are the differences big enough to switch and set everything up again? My answer: they’re built for different jobs.

AgentFeels likeBest for
HarkA polished, Apple-style personal assistant that comes to youLife admin: email, bookings, bills, daily planning
Grok BotAn agent with its own computer you log apps intoGeneral tasks inside the Grok ecosystem
Hermes AgentA customisable open-source agent you run yourselfBuilders who want control, plugins and any model
ChatGPT DotsOpenAI’s agent inside ChatGPTPeople who already live in ChatGPT

If you want an agent that handles your personal admin with almost no setup, Hark is the most polished I’ve seen. If you’re building business automations, a customisable agent like Hermes is still where I do my serious work. You don’t have to choose one — I use different agents for different jobs.

Hark privacy: what to think about first

Hark works by getting deep access to your email, calendar, files and even financial accounts. Read its privacy policy, start with your email only, use “stop” when it starts something you didn’t want, and approve purchases and payments yourself.

Hark says it isn’t in the business of selling ads or your data, and it shows you what the agent is doing as it browses, which helps build trust. It’s brand new, though, so connect accounts gradually as you get comfortable.

My verdict on the Hark AI agent

The Hark AI agent is smooth, easy to understand and genuinely proactive — the best onboarding of any agent I’ve tested. It’s free to try, so connect your email, ask it to take one thing off your plate this week, and see what you think.
